Frequently Asked Questions

How does it all work?

Through one on one, fifty minute sessions we will work together to assess where you’re at and set goals for where you want to go. If you aren’t sure what that looks like, we will figure it out together.

What is telehealth?

Telehealth is the opportunity to provide healthcare services through phone or video platforms. Moonrise Counseling chooses to offer this service not only due to the Covid-19 pandemic, but also because it makes therapy easy and accessible for more people. Research shows that mental health support can be equally as effective through telehealth, and many folks find that they enjoy being able to be in their own space!

All sessions are confidential.

What is Accelerated Resolution Therapy?

A.R.T. is an evidenced based treatment process for post-traumatic stress and other persistent mental health concerns. A.R.T. works to reprogram the brain, build resilience, and reduce stress or overwhelm. Kat Quinn is a certified A.R.T. practitioner and is happy to discuss further if this approach might be right for you.

We provide A.R.T. sessions (one hour) or intensives (two-four hours) as needed.

Do you accept insurance?

We accept Blue Cross Blue Shield, United Healthcare, Cigna and Aetna plans at this time. We hope to be paneled with additional insurances in the future, so check back or give us a call to ask about coverage options!

We otherwise offer private pay slots at your convenience. We are able to provide you with a superbill, which you can submit to your insurance for out-of-network benefits. If you’re interested in this option, we can tell you more!

How much do you charge for private pay appointments?

Initial consultation, fifteen minutes: Free

Intake assessment, sixty minutes: $160

Regular sessions, fifty minutes: $150

Accelerated Resolution Therapy intensives: $150+

Cancelation policy: a minimum of 24 hours notice is required prior to a cancelation, or the full fee will be charged to the card on file. We do try to work with schedule changes as best we can, but this is a strict policy with no exceptions. Appointment reminders through text or email are provided.

What appointment times do you have available?

We currently offer sessions on weekdays, usually in the morning or early afternoon. We don’t currently have evening or weekend openings, though this is subject to change.

How often will we meet?

Most people choose to start therapy as a weekly commitment, which helps us begin the process with consistency. Over time, many folks choose to reduce their session frequency as they see changes and begin to feel stable in their day to day life. Our goal is to support you and your progress as best we can- as often or as seldom as needed.

How will I know if we are a good fit?

During our fifteen minute consult, we’ll answer any questions you have and you’ll be able to get a good sense for our style and approach. You may choose to try a few sessions and see how they go, as well. If Moonrise does not feel like a good fit after the consultation, or at any point in the therapuetic process, we will be happy to offer other referral sources to help you find a therapist that works for you.

What else do I need to know about the process?

Every new client starts with a longer session, so that we have time to review your history and what brought you to therapy. During that session, we’ll identify specific goals, treatment needs, and any next steps. Our fifty minute sessions will then be provided at the frequency we agree on together, and we’ll progress from there. Some folks stay in therapy for just a few months, and others choose to utilize therapy for years. It will be completely up to you and what you need along the way.
